12-24 June 2018 | 'Orsi Cowell-Lehoczky and Hazel Reeves: Shared' @ the Fountain Gallery
Orsi Cowell-Lehoczky and fellow ‘Society of Women Artists’ member, Hazel Reeves SWA MRBS FRSA sculptor are exhibiting at the Fountain Gallery.
A number of Orsi’s recent paintings with her dream-like figuralism and shifted dimensions are critical, some paying homage to the Suffragettes by recalling ancient artefacts (Venus figures). Some of these oil on canvas works will have their debuts at the gallery, alongside a series of new pastel drawings titled ‘Letters from Home'.
Hazel is an award-winning figurative sculptor, who is passionate about people and their stories, with figure and portrait commissions in bronze a speciality. She is the artist behind the monumental Sir Nigel Gresley statue at King’s Cross station and the joyful Cracker Packers’ statue in Carlisle that was unveiled on International Women’s Day, 8 March. She is now working on her statue of the Suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst for St Peter’s Square, Manchester.
