Hazel Reeves wins Pankhurst Commission
 
Sculptor Hazel Reeves has been announced as the designer who will create the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst in Manchester, with her striking 'chair' design receiving both the public’s vote and the unanimous support of the selection committee.

Andrew Simcock, Chair of the Emmeline Pankhurst Statue Campaign, says, "I am delighted for Hazel. Since first meeting her eighteen months ago she has impressed me with her passion for women's rights and gender equality, her enthusiasm for the project and her willingness to engage in the broader educational opportunities that this project will unlock. 

Jugs and Roses
 

Visitors to The Pastel Society Annual Exhibition 2017 we asked to vote for their favourite work in the show to decide the winner of the first Derwent Visitors’ Choice Award. Derwent have been sponsoring The Pastel Society since 2016.

The work with the most votes was: Jugs and Roses by Patricia Whiting.

On Wednesday, International Women's Day Carlisle Council and Pladis/McVities have announced Hazel’s Reeves as the artist selected to create the Cracker Packer statue for Carlisle.

21st National Open Art Competition Now Open
Royal Academician Hughie O’Donoghue, artist Jane McAdam Freud, former NOA winner Kelvin Okafor, gallery director Cynthia Corbett and filmmakers Elaine Pyke and Adam Saward are among the judges for the 21st National Open Art Prize.
